What "refurbished" actually means here
It's not what you're picturing.
"Refurbished" has a bad reputation, and usually for good reason. It tends to mean broken once, patched up, sold cheap, fingers crossed.
That's not what's on this page.
Our refurbished inventory is mostly batteries that never really got used. Open-box orders that came back unopened. Returns from customers who ordered the wrong fitment. Units that took a hit in shipping and showed up with a dented corner. Overstock that sat in a warehouse a little too long to sell as new.
They're perfectly good batteries. They just can't be sold in a sealed box anymore — so they get tested, graded, discounted, and sent back out.
The inspection process
The outside might not be perfect. The inside has to be.
Every unit that comes back gets the same workup before it earns a spot on the shelf.
1. Intake and history check We log the unit, pull the return reason, and check whether it was ever installed. Anything returned for a performance concern is flagged out of the refurb program immediately.
2. Physical inspection A hands-on look at the case, terminals, seals, and mounting points. We're checking for cracks, swelling, corrosion, heat marks, or anything that suggests damage beyond the surface. Cosmetic scuffs are fine. Compromised structure is not.
3. State of charge and voltage We check resting voltage and bring the unit to a known state of charge so every test after this runs from the same baseline.
4. Capacity verification The battery is tested to confirm it delivers the rated capacity it left the factory with. If it's down [X]% or more from spec, it doesn't move forward.
5. Cell balance and BMS check We look at individual cell voltages to confirm the pack is balanced, then verify the battery management system is communicating correctly and its protection features are functioning as designed.
6. Load and output test A load test to confirm the battery performs under real demand, not just at rest.
7. Final clean, charge, and grade The unit is cleaned, brought to shipping charge, assigned a cosmetic grade, and repackaged.
Anything that fails at any step is pulled and recycled. We'd rather eat the cost than send out a battery that isn't right. A cheap battery that doesn't work isn't a deal — it's a headache with a discount attached.
FAQs
Is a refurbished battery as good as a new one?
In performance, yes. Every unit is tested to confirm it meets spec before it ships. The difference is cosmetic, pre-owned history and the price.
How much life is left in it?
Most of our refurbished stock has seen little to no use. Units that were installed briefly are tested to confirm capacity is within spec of a new battery. Anything meaningfully degraded doesn't make the cut.
What condition will mine arrive in?
Expect light cosmetic wear — scuffs, scratches, possibly a dent. No cracks, no corrosion, no compromised seals.
Can I return it?
Yes — refurbished units are covered by our standard 30-day return policy, same as new.
Is the warranty really the same?
It's a full 1-year warranty with the same support.
Why don't you just sell these as new?
We can't, in good conscience, sell a unit as new once the box is opened or the case is marked. So we test them, disclose the condition, and discount them.
How do I know which one fits my vehicle?
Refurbished units are the same models as our new lineup, so fitment is identical. Just ensure your vehicle, equipment or device is compatible.
